Welcome to our blog. We are Bill and Diane and we wanted to start this blog for two reasons -
- To share our travels with friends and family as we explore this great nation.
- To capture and share what we learn with those who are thinking about a full time RV lifestyle and those all ready living the life style.
So how did this crazy idea that we could live outside our 2000+ square foot box get started? Diane and I talked for several years about an RV but work and just life as we knew it, always seemed to get in the way. Finally as we both neared our 60th trip around the sun, we decided to bite the bullet and buy a used 32 foot Winnebago Brave just to "test the water". We had both done some camping many years ago but the aforementioned "life" seemed to now always get in the way. Maybe we were so busy earning a living that we had forgot to live!
In July of 2013 we bought "Pooh" and started making short trips to local parks. We soon discovered that this camping thing just "fit" us as we reconnected with something from years past. The peace and quiet. The friendly people that we met who had a common interest. The relaxation. Hearing the rain fall while being warm and dry snuggled in our home on wheels. Seeing new and exciting things. I could go on, but you get the idea - it just felt right. And it was on one of these trips to a local state park that the seed was planted.
While walking through Georgia's High Falls State Park park one beautiful, crisp autumn evening, we stopped to chat with a fellow camper who was on his way to Florida for the winter. We soon discovered that this camper and his wife actually lived in this 5th wheel they were towing! Say what? You live in that thing? Why? Well it seems that there is a certain freedom in traveling when and where you want. Also there was this idea that you don't have to work your life away to pay for all your stuff, and just maybe this will allow you to live a bit cheaper. So the seed was planted.
